Laminate, Engineered and Solid Wood Flooring

New flooring can completely transform a room - and when it’s fitted properly, it should look seamless, feel solid underfoot and last for years. At Maple Tree Carpentry, we supply and fit laminate, engineered and solid wood flooring across Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey. If you’ve already purchased your flooring, we’re equally happy to carry out a fit-only service.

Flooring Types We Install

We work with all the popular flooring types and can advise on the best option for your home, lifestyle and budget:

  • Laminate flooring - affordable, durable and available in a huge range of styles and finishes. Modern laminates are remarkably realistic and stand up well to everyday family life
  • Engineered wood flooring - a real wood top layer bonded to a stable core, giving you the beauty of natural timber with better resistance to moisture and temperature changes. Ideal for underfloor heating
  • Solid wood flooring - timeless elegance with premium hardwood throughout. Can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifetime
  • Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) - a practical, waterproof option that works well in kitchens, hallways and bathrooms

We source flooring from trusted suppliers and can help you choose the right product for each room. Whether you’re after a pale oak laminate for a bright, modern feel or a rich walnut engineered board for a more traditional look, we’ll make sure you get the right fit.

Our Fitting Process

A good floor starts with proper preparation. Before any boards go down, we check the subfloor for level, moisture and stability. If there are issues - uneven concrete, squeaky floorboards, or old adhesive residue - we deal with them first. Skipping this step is where many flooring jobs go wrong, and it’s something we never cut corners on.

Once the subfloor is ready, we lay the appropriate underlay, fit the flooring with tight, clean joints and finish with skirting boards or beading to give a polished look. We also handle door trimming so that everything opens and closes properly over the new floor level.

From single rooms to whole-house flooring projects, we’ve laid floors in properties of all sizes across Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham and beyond.

Skirting and Finishing

Replacing skirting boards at the same time as your flooring makes a real difference to the finished result. We supply and fit skirting in a range of profiles - from simple modern designs to more traditional ogee and torus styles - and can match or contrast with your existing woodwork.

Why Choose Maple Tree Carpentry

We take pride in leaving you with a floor that looks right and performs well, not just on day one but for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to have flooring fitted?

Flooring costs depend on the type of flooring, the size of the area and the condition of the subfloor. Laminate is generally the most affordable option, with engineered and solid wood at the higher end. We provide free, no-obligation quotes for all flooring work in Wokingham and across Berkshire - just get in touch with the details of your project and we’ll give you a clear price.

How long does it take to fit flooring?

A single room can often be completed in a day, while a full house may take three to five days depending on the size and any preparation work needed. Subfloor levelling, removing old flooring and fitting new skirting boards can add to the timeline, but we’ll always give you a realistic schedule upfront.

Which type of flooring is best for my home?

It depends on the room, your lifestyle and your budget. Laminate is a great all-rounder for families, engineered wood works well with underfloor heating, and LVT is ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where moisture resistance is important. Solid wood is the premium choice for living areas and bedrooms. We’re happy to visit your home and talk through the options to help you decide.

Do I need to move my furniture before you arrive?

We ask that the rooms are cleared of furniture before we start, as it speeds up the installation and helps us deliver the best result. If moving heavy items is difficult, let us know and we can usually help on the day.
